Reservation Conditions
- Maximum two vehicles per site (one for walk-in sites and sleeping barrels). One unit (RV, trailer or camper) per site and this unit counts as a vehicle.
- Where space permits, a maximum of three pieces of shelter equipment are allowed per site—only one of which may be a RV, trailer, camper van, motor home or self-propelled camping unit.
- Reservations are held until 11:00 am of the day after the scheduled arrival date. If you do not notify the park of a late arrival, your reservation will be cancelled, payment forfeited and the park operator will give the site to another visitor.
- Long weekends have a two-night minimum booking requirement.
- Sleeping Barrels have a two-night minimum booking requirement during peak season (June 15-September 8).
- Reservations are not transferable. Any reservation holders found to be transferring or selling their reservations to another party risk their reservation being cancelled without a refund. If a customer can no longer use their reservation, they are encouraged to cancel it.
- To create more opportunities for a greater number of park visitors, each person – whether or not they are the registered/named permit holder – may only camp up to a maximum of 13 nights in each calendar year.
- Please note that the campsite is located across the lake from the Courtenay Fish & Game Club, and you will hear gunshots from their shooting range.
- Please note that two races start at Cumberland Campground and may result in morning noise:
- Dodge City X (Sep 6, 2025)
- Mind over Mountain Adventure Race (Sep 20, 2025)
Cancellations

Partial cancellations are not permitted on reservations made during the advance reservations window (Feb 14th – March 1st). Only full cancellations are permitted. No refunds will be provided for cancellations due to eviction or factors outside of our control such as inclement weather, poor air quality, traffic issues or leaving early.
Campground Rules
Check-in
Check-in is 1 pm (3 pm for sleeping barrels) & check-out is 11 am. All campers must arrive prior to 10 pm.
Group Size
- Maximum campsite occupancy is 4 adults (plus children for a total site occupancy of 6)
- Maximum double campsite occupancy is 8 adults (plus children for a total site occupancy of 12)
- Maximum group site occupancy is 30, including children

Quiet Time
Quiet time is 10:30 pm to 7:30 am and will be strictly enforced by Camp Hosts (778-992-0238).
Generator use is permitted between 1 pm – 4 pm. No amplified music at any time.
Pets
Dogs must be leashed at all times. Dogs are NOT permitted on the main beach.
Visitors
Please park in public parking lots. All visitors must leave by 10pm. The campground host will close the front gate promptly at 10 pm.
Campfires
Campfires must be in the fire ring & attended at all times. The firepit is not a garbage can. Do not move fire rings or remove wood from the forest. Firewood is available for purchase at the office or from Camp Hosts.
Alcohol & Cannabis
Liquor & cannabis consumption is prohibited anywhere in the park, with the exception of your campsite.
Be Bear (& Mice & Rat) Aware
To avoid potential problems with wildlife, keep your food in your vehicle or food cache, whenever you are asleep or not at your campsite.
Respect
We are all responsible for creating a fair, safe and enjoyable space. Management will ask anyone violating our environment of mutual respect to leave.
Gray water & How do I do dishes?
If you don’t have graywater storage, please use ‘leave not trace’ techniques for doing your dishes and avoid doing them in freshwater rivers and lakes.
Notice to All Guests
Failure to abide by these rules may result in eviction from the park without refund. Campers are responsible for ensuring their families and guests follow these rules. Be aware that Cumberland Lake Park (campground, park, lake, rentals, programs, paths, roads etc) involves many inherent risks – including – but not limited to – changing weather conditions, equipment failure, risk of drowning, branches or trees falling, tripping, collisions with objects/people. All guests and visitors using Cumberland Lake Park do so at their own risk. The Society/Village of Cumberland will not be held responsible for any such incidents and/or acts of God.
Reservation Conditions
- Consumption of alcohol while renting equipment is prohibited; service will be denied if use is suspected
- Life jackets (PFDs) must be worn at all times while on the water
- One person per seat in kayaks and on paddle boards
- An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 15 (paddling beyond the swim area).
- An adult must supervise anyone under the age of 15 paddling in the swim area (kids kayaks only).
- Rentals are for use at Comox Lake (Lake Park) only and are not to be transported to other locations via vehicle or other means.
- Renters must complete a waiver. Renters under the age of 19 must have an informed consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian.
- In the event of damage, the renter will be charged a repair fee. In the event of loss, theft or damage beyond repair, the renter will be charged a restocking fee.

Reservation Conditions
- In order to participate, each participant must have an informed consent form completed by a parent or legal guardian.
- PFDs (provided) must be worn at all times while in or on the water, regardless of participant’s swimming proficiency.

Age Requirement & Responsibility
I am at least 18 years old and responsible for all members of my camping party or anyone in my group participating in programs, boating, paddlesports or other activities.
Failure to follow park rules or Terms of Service may result in eviction without refund.
Assumption of Risk
Camping and outdoor recreation involve inherent risks, including changing weather, equipment failure, drowning, falling trees, tripping, and collisions.
All guests use Cumberland Lake Park at their own risk.
Release & Indemnity
I release and waive claims against Cumberland Lake Park Society, its staff, volunteers, and agents for any injury, damage, or loss, including negligence.
I indemnify Lake Park Society for damages, costs, or fines caused by my party.
This does not waive legal rights of other adult members of my party.
Minors
I am the parent/guardian of minors in my party or they are accompanied by their own parent/guardian.
I will supervise all minors and accept all associated risks.
Facilities & Property
The Premises are provided “as is” with all faults; no warranties are made.
Lake Park Society is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property, vehicles, valuables, or currency.
Compliance & Public Health
I will follow all park rules and staff instructions.
I will follow Public Health guidance and only visit the park if I am not experiencing communicable disease symptoms.
Emergencies
Staff are not required to provide first aid; I remain responsible for my own safety.
Confirmation
I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to be bound by these Terms of Service for the dates of my reservation and my presence on the Premises.
